Our Story

Founded in 1963. Still going strong.

AARP Riverside Chapter 237 was officially chartered on April 21, 1963, as a nongovernmental, nonpartisan, nonprofit community service organization. For more than six decades, we've given Riverside-area residents a place to gather, learn, and stay connected.

Today the chapter is 240 members strong. We're not a national call center or a mailing list — we're your neighbors, meeting face to face once a month, run by a volunteer board that lives in this community too.

  • Fellowship first. Coffee, refreshments, and conversation before every meeting.
  • Speakers & entertainment. Local historians, musicians, and community leaders every month.
  • Community service. Support for Riverside seniors that goes beyond our own membership.

Spanish Town Heritage Foundation, presented by co-founder Nancy Melendez

Hear the story of La Placita de los Trujillos and the effort to preserve the Inland Empire's earliest Hispanic heritage. Stay for live music from Robert "Cowboy Bob" Martinez, performing classics from the 50s, 60s, 90s, and gospel.

Membership

Become part of Chapter 237

Annual dues are just $10 per person. Members age 50 and under are welcome as associate members with full voting rights, and members of other AARP chapters are always welcome to join us too.

An educational program and live entertainment at every general meeting, all year long.

Day tours & extended trips

Chapter-subsidized bus tours and multi-day trips, planned and escorted by fellow members.

Travel with Us

Day tours and extended trips, planned by people you trust

Our all-volunteer Tour Escorts plan a full calendar of Day Tours and Extended Tours throughout the year — museums, gardens, shows, and more. The chapter is currently using reserve funds to help offset rising bus prices, keeping our tours affordable for every member.

New tours are announced at every general meeting and in the newsletter, with registration deadlines listed well in advance.

Meet your 2025 Board

Chapter 237 is entirely volunteer-led. Our Board of Directors meets six times a year — Jan 13, Mar 10, May 12, Jul 14, Sep 8, and Nov 10 — to plan programs, tours, and chapter business.
